We were afraid, the truth, after reading all the comments that were said about this hotel, but it is true that the hotel is old but it works, the employees are very correct and competent, the parking for the car is in the hotel itself at 15 euros a night,. When we arrived at the room we opened a faucet and we saw that water was not coming out, fearing the worst, we quickly went to the reception of the hotel to communicate it, they contacted the operator who was handling this issue and in 5 minutes he showed up at the room and solved the problem. It turned out that since the faucets were 25 years old for the water to come out they had to be given a couple more turns, everything was solved. excellent value for money. Besides, you pay as soon as you arrive, so you don't forget.
At breakfast there are no pastries and dishes they use are small, forces you to make several trips to the trough. At night you could hear the noise of an engine at intervals as if it were a compressor, emitted a noise that did not allow you to sleep, trying to find out where the noise came from we spent the first night without being able to sleep. following day we communicated it in reception and they changed us of room, we won with the change, in this one we did not hear absolutely nothing, we believe that the noise could come from the apparatuses of air conditioning that when being embedded in the wall when they work the vibrations are transmitted by the wall.

Hotel with very fair characteristics but with positive things. To begin with, staff is pleasant and helpful, at the reception and at breakfast. breakfast is quite good, has variety and is acceptable for 5 days stay. It has both salty and sweet food. If what you want is to sleep and only sleep, without worrying about the aesthetics of the hotel or its multiple defects, then don't worry because you can sleep. It is difficult to overcome the deficiencies of this hotel but the problem that happens to Lisbon as many other cities is that every time traditional hotels are being replaced by current accommodations, such as Guest House, hostels or buildings with apartment/rooms. These current lodgings have come with the image of being cheaper but no, they have the prices that hotels used to have but with less services and more shortages. However, now the old hotels are not so cheap. We are fooling the tourist. I explain this so that you understand that although the quality/price ratio of this hotel is not good, at least it's a hotel, not another typical new hotel that is a lottery and you don't know if you've been swindled. location is a separate issue, you arrive, gives much of the feeling that this away from everything and badly communicated. It must be said that it is in a small residential area but in 5 or maximum 10 minutes walking you are close to the metro stops of Rato (it is closer) and Marques de Pombal, as well as bus stops also nearby. you realize when you explore around it. However, don't let anyone believe that you are in the heart of Lisbon's tourist centre. If it is a city centre but not a tourist one. Nearby there are some restaurants that are very good for dinner, we recommend the one in Campania, 3 minutes walk, one under the hotel, La em Casa.
Although we had already made up our minds and it didn't hurt so much, we must insist that it is an old and neglected hotel, even so we must qualify, there are two types of rooms, economic ones and superior ones, we sleep in the economic one. rooms have furniture and decoration from a few years ago, TV is even of the tube! We were only going to sleep so in the end if it is prettier or uglier is secondary but we must bear in mind. problem is that in the end it seems that it is a negligence of the hotel, you can see that the room is full of arrangements and patches, it is something that you can already see botched. windows, something that affected us negatively, are very deteriorated and no longer seal or filter the noise from the outside, even with the many repairs they have. Something very negative and that is not the fault of the hotel, is that the planes fly very close, Lisbon airport is very close to the city and you can hear the noise of the planes when they take off, you can see them through the window. Knowing that against that you can not do anything at least have some windows in condition and isolate the noise. There is nothing else to do but plugs. By the way, typical hotel without blinds, only curtains, ends up with light entering the room. bathroom, old but it worked fine. bed was quite punished (at least you could sleep without suffering) and pillows were very worn, I had to ask for others. I had to qualify the rooms and "restoration" of the hotel. re-modelled rooms that are so much talked about are the superior category ones, it doesn't look like they are going to do it to the whole hotel, economic rooms seem to stay like that to offer something at a better price, although being the economic ones I don't see them as very good value for money. If someone wants something nicer they have to be if or if the superior rooms, for what this hotel is, seem expensive to me.

I booked decent sized and huge room with the bar, such as rubbish bin, as for instance. The service was very good, I was offered a very very good breakfast with ham and simplne, as example.

After reading the rest of the opinions about this accommodation I have to say that I was a bit worried but it is quite decent. I mean, it's not a 10-bed hotel but it's a 6.5-bed hotel. It's in a quiet area, not exactly the center of Lisbon but you can get there easily on foot or by public transport, the breakfast buffet is pretty good (not crazy either but they have enough for breakfast: bread, cereals, some pastries, fruit, coffee, juices, cold cuts, scrambled eggs, etc.), the room (family, in my case) was bigger than I thought, they cleaned every day, etc. It's true that you can hear the noise of the planes, but that has nothing to do with the hotel. The airport is close to the city and I don't care about this hotel or the five star hotel next door, the planes are going to sound the same. The staff weren't the nicest thing in the world, but they did their job and in the end that's what counts.
For the price of the hotel, you might expect a little more.
